Electrical Equipment Act

Information on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with the ElektroG (Electrical Equipment Act)

In connection with the sale of electrical and electronic equipment, we as a retailer are obliged under the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) to inform you of the following:

1. Labelling requirement for electrical and electronic equipment
All electrical and electronic equipment intended for use in private households is marked with the symbol: crossed-out wheeled bin

This symbol indicates that the respective old device must not be disposed of with household waste (residual waste bin) . Instead, old devices must be collected and disposed of separately from unsorted municipal waste .

2. Return options for old devices

a) Return to municipal collection points
Old appliances from private households can be disposed of free of charge at local collection points run by public waste disposal authorities (örE) . These can be found in your city or municipality (e.g., recycling centers).

b) Return to authorized collection points
There are also collection points set up by manufacturers or distributors. An online directory of these collection points can be found here:
Foundation for Waste Electrical Equipment Register

c) Return to us (SysKan)
We are also obliged to take back electrical equipment under Section 17 of the ElektroG if:

  • it is an old device of the same type as we have or have had in our range (so-called 1:1 take-back obligation ), and
  • the old device corresponds in type and function to a new device that you are buying or have bought from us.

If you would like to return an old device, please contact us in advance: info@syskan.de

We will then send you the necessary information for returning the item. Returns are generally free of charge, provided the legal requirements are met.

3. Important information on returns

a) Remove batteries and rechargeable batteries
Please remove all non-permanent batteries and accumulators from the old device – if technically possible – before returning it. These must be disposed of separately in accordance with the German Battery Act (BattG) .

b) Data protection - your responsibility
Please note: Many electronic devices (e.g., mobile phones, computers, and tablets) contain personal data. You are legally obligated to delete all personal data before returning the device.

We assume no liability for data still contained on returned old devices.

c) Transport and packaging
If you return a device to us by mail, please ensure that it is securely packaged - especially if:

  • Lamps, light sources, lighting fixtures:
These are particularly prone to breakage and can release harmful substances. Please package such items shock-proof and padded in a sufficiently sturdy box.

4. Why separate disposal is important

Old devices contain valuable raw materials (e.g., metals) that can be recycled. At the same time, they sometimes contain substances that are hazardous to the environment and health. Proper disposal protects people and the environment—and contributes to the circular economy.

5. Legal basis

This information is provided in accordance with the provisions of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) in the version of 2025.
